The clue’s in the name of course. This is an inspired mash-up of two of the 80s & 90s’ most iconic, all-round joyous, and lyrically inspired pop acts, The Beautiful South and The Housemartins.
Sing your heart out to Beautiful South anthems including Perfect 10, You Keep it all In, Rotterdam, and the ‘I love you from the bottom of my pencil case’ Song for Whoever. And then you can do that trademark dance to Housemartins hits such as Happy Hour, Me and the Farmer, and of course Caravan of Love.
The Southmartins genuinely love playing these songs… and it shows. There’s an energy with this show that’s a joy to behold. We’re losing count of how many are in the band, but it must be pushing double figures these days with the brass section on board, and it all makes for a massive room-filling sound.
Plus giant red balloons and indoor snow (spoiler alert) and live-mixed projections of course, to take the show to the next level.
This is a beast of a party that gets the Town Hall bouncing each and every year. It truly is a full-on Caravan of Love. Last year when the brass section started that intro to Fairytale of New York we had a lump in our throat the size of a golf ball – it was a proper festive ‘moment’. And it wasn’t just us… Christmas most definitely starts here.
