Hard to believe, but it’s now over twenty years since the world lost the great Johnny Cash and since then his iconic status has grown to unprecedented proportions. Country, rockabilly, folk, blues, gospel… the songs span countless genres, and have become timeless monuments to the plight of the 20th Century working man.
‘There are two types of people in this world – those who like Johnny Cash and those that don’t know a damn thing about music’, says charismatic Cash frontman Ben Welburn, who also describes his first childhood encounter with this extraordinary music as ‘a lightbulb moment’. He might have grown up on a Yorkshire farm rather than an Arkansas cotton field, but Ben and his band present a recreation of their hero’s music in a live performance that is both touching and thrilling to behold.
From Walk the Line and Ring of Fire to Get Rhythm and the heartbreaking Hurt, this stunning 5-piece band are as close as you’ll ever get to standing toe-to-toe with the Man in Black himself.
